I want to elaborate more on God’s love and His perfect gift to us: Jesus. For a very long time, I didn’t realize just who Jesus was in me, but God showed me. See. I wore my heart on my sleeve with no idea how to use it, and twenty-five years young, I’ve gone through mental and emotional struggles as I made bad decisions repeatedly in the name of love or finding true love. I say bad decisions because my choices to trust and believe in people’s “expectations” left me disappointed and heartbroken. So, imagine loving and believing blindly just because you have a good heart without any knowledge or understanding on how to protect it. Over many years, I laid in bed countless nights crying about my boyfriend’s and other people’s actions. I was confused about how and why I could be mistreated in ways that hurt my feelings deeply. But God had His hands on me through it all; I still managed to smile, laugh, grow, and love. I could never hold grudges towards the people who wronged me or offended me in any way. I didn’t understand it, and those around me couldn’t either, but God knew, and he showed me who I was. I am His child and being His child is rewarding all in itself. He blessed us with the Holy Spirit that lives within us, the Son of God who is a perfect example of how we should walk in His likeness. Now, whether we follow His lead or our desires, it is our free will to do whatever we want, and God will continue to work on us through our trials and errors, because nothing we do can separate us from God. Now, will change come overnight? No. It is hard work to rid yourself of yourself because we are sinners by nature, but the more we seek God and grow closer to Him;, the more we’ll walk in His likeness and not because we’re scared to go to hell, but because we love Him. So, in the midst of our walk, we should not judge one another from falling short of the glory. We all do in some shape, form, or fashion, but despite our bad decisions, God loves us, has forgiven us for our sins with the blood of Jesus, and blesses us with what we need and more every day. We can all look around and be able to thank God for something or someone. He gave us a heart to love, not judge.
